Genesis of GRIET, Dr.G.GangaRaju

GRIET, which has come to be synonymously pronounced with GREAT by the discerning observers and admirers, was established in the year 1997, under the patronage of Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational Society.
GRIET was conceived and created by Dr. Gokaraju Ganga Raju, the sprit and force behind the Laila group of Industries, dealing in paper, sugar, pharmaceuticals, computer software, agro-products, exports, finance and entertainment. In fact, it is Dr. Gokaraju Ganga Raju, the famous industrial tycoon and pioneering educational philantrophist, who envisioned GRIET as a corollary to SRKR Engineering college at Bhimavaram in West Godavari District of coastal Andhra Pradesh, established by his illustrious and renowned father, Sri Gokaraju Rangaraju. As a fitting tribute to his dynamic visionary father, Dr. Ganga Raju, as a worthy son to a worthy father, conceived and concretized this wonderful thing of beauty and christned it after his father in 1997, when the college started functioning.

A Word About Sri. Gokaraju Rangaraju

Sri Gokaraju Rangaraju, in whose fond memory his son, Dr.G.Ganga Raju established GRIET as an everlasting monument, was a dedicated missionary and crusader in the field of education in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. A great philantropist that he was, he held many prestigious positions such as, founder president of SRKR Engineering colege at Bhimavaram for fifteen years; President of DNR College at Bhimavaram for twenty years; Chairman Board of Trustees, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam and a member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
